Once the engine’s roar has died down, he loves to listen to the music of Ludovico Einaudi, Hans Zimmer or Coldplay. And once his fingers are done with the steering wheel buttons, he really enjoys moving them around the piano keys.

He loves to fill his vision with the beauty of architecture, fashion, photography and the works of artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Botero, Jason Boyd Kinsella or Tom Wesselmann, among others. And when he needs to give his mind a rest, maybe after a particularly demanding game of chess, a nice relaxing movie is just the thing.

Although Charles is a private person, his innate elegance means that he's always at ease even when he takes off his overalls and helmet and puts on a suit and tie, capable of moving seamlessly from the racetrack to the thousands of events, parties and gala evenings that glitter around the glamorous world of Formula 1.

As a professional athlete, he naturally always follows a very controlled lifestyle and diet but, when he can, he loves good food, especially Italian, Japanese and Peruvian, his favourite cuisines. And when the spotlight finally goes out at the races, he gets the greatest enjoyment out of spending time with his family, friends and the people he loves. If it's on a boat, even better.
